Four American soldiers were abducted during a sophisticated sneak attack last week in the Shiite holy city of Karbala, the U.S. military confirmed Friday. It said three were shot to death and a fourth was mortally wounded with a gunshot to the head when they were found in a neighboring province, far from the compound where they were captured.
Two of the four were handcuffed together in the back seat of an SUV near the southern Iraqi town of Mahawil. A third dead soldier was on the ground nearby. The fourth soldier died on the way to the hospital, the military said in a statement issued late Friday that confirmed details reported by The Associated Press earlier.
On Jan. 20, the day of the raid on a security meeting in Karbala, the military said five soldiers were killed repelling the attack.
The brazen assault, 50 miles south of Baghdad, was conducted by nine to 12 militants posing as an American security team, according to two senior U.S. military officials as well as Iraqi officials. They traveled in black GMC Suburban vehicles _ the type used by U.S. government convoys _ had American weapons, wore new U.S. military combat fatigues, and spoke English.

In your dreams. We don't do things like that (i.e., actually fight wars) anymore. Too much bad press if we actually take out some one that is'nt pointing a weapon at a GI.
And we all know that the lives of any number of our servicemen don't matter as much as the opinions of Danish housewives, French Students, and UC Berkeley Freshmen, don't we?
Well, I've never been to DU, but I haven't ever witnessed any glee over our men being killed, from anyone, anywhere. I suppose if one looks hard enough, they can find just about anything.
Yeah, I think reprisal works better than a stubborn insistence on punishing the perpetrators and only the perpetrators. Helps concentrate their minds and convince them to put peer pressure on the actor outers.
I'll remember your login name when we are hit again stateside.
Amen
Don't lose heart, there are a lot of us that are getting angrier, time will come when that anger is turned into action. Stand by.
That friggin' "holy" city needs to be turning into a smoking hole, no loss, along with that black box...
"..."Never piss off a nice guy." "
I hope this particular "nice guy" has a belly full soon and begins to lash out.
turning=turned Good, careful proof reading is your friend.

AP cannot be trusted, especially not when reported from their Arab stringes (like in this story).
They had the same "shot in the head" thing in combination with the downed helicopter, which now appartently turns out to be false.
Never trust AP or Reuters at face value. Wait for authorized Official Releases. Anything "unnamed" "annoymous" "unauthorized" or "unverified" is BS until proven.
You know, I've about had it too.
Lets put their holy shrines on the hit list. When Mecca is gone, will they still have a reason to fight?
For the inevitable outcry from the lamestream media that the war is "unwinnable".
War is ugly and tragic sarasota, but keep in mind that they will never get away with that again. You should also keep in mind that actual US fatalities are extremely low in both theaters and with the exception of Matt Maupin there are no POW's.
In WWII we had soldier executed by Germans and incredible horrors committed by the Japanese. Had we lost our resolve then God only knows how bad life would be.
The left's only reason to oppose the war was to turn national support away from the GOP, all of the Rat members of the Government really have no desire to withdraw from Iraq, they just needed an issue to oppose Bush on.
Don't give up hope, AQ plan was always to draw us into a conflict with the hope that the US was a paper tiger. they knew they could never beat us but wanted to demoralize us so that we would leave giving them the victory. Then, they could topple every weak government in the Middle East knowing that we would not have the stomach to stop them. We can not give them that victory, no matter what the cost.
The last thing you must never forget, the men and women of our armed services know what that cost is and they all have chosen to freely bare it. For us to call for withdrawal is a slap in the face to all who have chosen to serve.
When you get hit you hit back. You fight untill you can't get up and hit back anymore, then you kick untill they break your legs, then you bite untill they kick out your teeth.
Losing this war is not an option. If we pull out, we have lost. 9-11-01 was bad. What will come from a retreat from Iraq will be much worse. We can never stand down, we can never retreat. As nasty as this war may be, and it is going to get worse this summer, we can never retreat.
The truth: it's an AP story. :-)
I'm thinking payback for US detaining the Iranian spys.
Thanks, I needed that. Semper Fi'

Could you clarify that, please?
God bless their souls and bless their grieving families and loved ones. As to the creeps who shot them, I have nothing to say except words that would get me banned from posting in Freep.
Thank you....see post #7
