He's one of those 80-90% friends Reagan talked about, his strengths outweigh his weaknesses

How can one be 80-90% conservative when one supports abortion on demand, the homosexual agenda and gun-control laws? And, it can be concluded from his position on abortion the type of judges he would appoint to the Supreme Court and judiciary.

Let's not jump to any conclusions. This doesn't necessarily mean that Rudy's been nupping gays... Not that there's anything wrong with that.

If I read the article correctly, his statement from 2004 was that he doesn't support a federal ban through constitutional amendment AT THIS TIME. It doesn't mean he might be for a ban at some future time. And if I recall correctly, there were a truckload of Freepers back in 2004 who said they opposed a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage, because stuff like that shouldn't be in the constitution. This issue, according to other statements by Rudy, like abortion and gun regulation, should be left to the responsibility of the states, not the federal government. That's the main reason he opposes a federal ban.

For Rudy detractors to use this particular statement to put words in his mouth, or to imply something about his position, is disingenuous at the least, and at the most it's a disgusting distortion of Rudy's position.

Why post an article from 2004? Because the Rudy-detractors want to misrepresent his positions on a whole number of issues.

Reagan signed the most liberal abortion law in the nation (at that time) when he was Governor of Ca. As Pres. he also signed the Brady Bill. By your way of thinking, Reagan must have been a "RINO."

I'm getting sick and tired of people using 10 or 15 year old quotes from Rudy (probaby taken out of context, like the statement on this thread) to tear him down. Resorting to lies and misrepresentations will not win you any allies.

Duncan Hunter looks like the best candidate in the race so far.

According to recent poll, *-% of people agree with you. ("*" = less than one percent)

As I pointed out to the real "one issue voter". Joe Lieberman is strong on the WOT. I wouldn't vote for him either.

2004 wasn't 10 to 15 years ago. A quick Google search on the words "Giuliani" and "gay marriage" will reveal dozens of articles describing Giuliani as "gay friendly" and a "champion of gay rights". Giuliani has not publicly repudiated or even moderated his positions on gay rights, abortion and gun control. Until he does any past statements he has made are fair game.

Odd, I saw that "poll" and it was weighted with liberals and pillow biters.

"Hate" is not a family value.

It's also not a "crime', as your liberal brethren are wont to codify.

Ditto gays in the military no doubt; no who expects Reagan-Republicans to support this guy?

"Abortion was rampant before abortion on demand became legal. "

Really? Tell us the numbers? Were they a half million a year?

2004 wasn't 10 to 15 years ago.

As I pointed out earlier (read this really slowly so you get it this time), that 2004 statement on banning gay marriage posted on this thread was more about the inappropriateness of banning gay marriage at the federal level through constitutional amendment. A lot of Freepers were opposed to that approach. To use that 2004 quote to imply something about Giuliani's position on the issue is motivated either by dishonesty, or by stupidity. Which one are you?

OK, show me a quote where Rudy supports sodomy. You people have gotten so desperate you've resorted to lying. Yes, I mean you.

Anyone who would sit on their fat posterior making self-righteous claims about how much of a "true conservative" they are, while allowing Hillary Clinton to get elected to the presidency isn't a Reagan-conservative.
