Alas, your facts are wrong. What happened was independents abandoned the GOP enough to cause about a 3.5% vote drop in the GOP totals, which was worth 30 House seats and senate seats. Absent gerrymandering, it kind of swing, a 7% swing, would have cost more like 45 seats.

My conclusions come from the 2004 and 2006 exit polls. They're not my facts. Basic Q&A. Since you didn't give me the background on your data, I'll have to disagree with you.
