Matters of conscience should be respected, and I agree with John that killing fetuses that would be viable outside the womb is some form of serious moral murder (welll maybe John does not quite agree with that, and is more "liberal" than I on this one, since he mentions just PBA, which I find a distraction as a locus of any import in and of itself; the line into grave "sin" in my mind is viability), unless the fetus threatens the mother with severe and demonstrable and court found physical harm (absent an emergency). (As an aside, the former sentence blows as prose big time, but I hope it makes some sense. It would NEVER make one of my legal briefs. :) )

But does it really matters what POTUS thinks on this issue? Does not what really matters is just whom the POTUS nominates for SCOTUS? Isn't THAT where the focus of attention should lie?

Not hardly. :-} I use PBA because it puts images in folks minds. My view is that abortion is murder (defined as the intentional killing of innocent human life absent due process), viable or not. I thought you knew that.

As for Rudy, I oppose exactly because of the courts. I firmly believe that court appointments are a picture into the window of the POTUS soul and Rudy has been a good soldier for the abortion on demand side of the equation. Hence, from my view he could never be entrusted with that decision now that we are one vote away from sanity on the court.
