4TH-PLACE HILL FACES 'LAST' RITES IN IOWA (bumped down by Obama, Breck girl)
NY POST ^ | January 25, 2007 | MAGGIE HABERMAN

Posted on 01/25/2007 4:10:53 AM PST by Liz

..... a new poll shows Sen Hillary Clinton running at the back of the pack.....running last among the top four contenders - former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards, Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois and former Iowa Gov. Tom Vilsack. Edwards leads, with 25% of support among likely Iowa caucus-goers, according to the survey by Strategic Vision. Obama had 17%, Vilsack 16%, and Clinton 15%. Clinton has trailed in Iowa polls for several months.....A KCCI-TV poll last month showed Edwards and Obama tied at 23%t, with Vilsack getting 12 % and Clinton 10%.

Obama moved to crush a so-called smear percolating for days that he was secretly raised as a Muslim and studied in a madrassa - an Islamic religious school - while living in Indonesia from age 6 to 10. Obama's camp made clear it wouldn't make the mistakes Sen. John Kerry did in 2004......responding slowly to claims from the conservative "Swift Boat Veterans for Truth" .....turning the Democrat's biggest strength into a weakness. "We will not be Swift-boated," said Obama communications director Robert Gibbs, who also noted the senator studied Catholic "catechism" as a child. The original report, on the Web site of the conservative Insight magazine, rapped both Clinton and Obama, saying researchers "connected" to her camp had dug up the information.

Continues to support my theory that I don't think she'll get the nomination. There is no appeal there.

So many Dems I know cannot stand her in the least. I've never seen such negative reaction. They tell me they would sit out if they had to vote for the beast.

The NY Post doing their part to set the stage for Hellary's turn as The Comeback Kid. The Klintoon playbook is open and the pages are turning.

In 2008, Hillary wins the presidency with 27% of popular vote, to McCains 24%. The rest of the voters stay home with stomach disorders.

I think the Iowa results are skewed because Gov. Vilsak is in the race as a favorite son. The main stream media will dismiss the results out of Iowa for this reason. Hillary gets a pass here.

I do hope you are right. Trouble is, some of my co-workers are all a-twitter because they think we are going to have a woman president. Remember, some opponents of the Clintons have a nasty habit of getting into accidents.

Edwards' lead might actually mean something, but 17/16/15% for the other contenders is certain to be within the poll's margin of error. Not to mention that we're a year out from the caucuses.

Bubba didn't get involved in the Iowa primaries either.

He also lost New Hampshire so let's not write the lowlife shrew off just yet.

She didn't plan on winning Iowa...that's why Vilsack was propped up to win as the home boy. And then Hill could just chalk it up to his being the favorite there.

As for the NY Post, they have never been that kind to the Bubbas. And if they start featuring Herself too much, they will lose their #1 place in readership. Most who buy the Post (like me), despise Hill & Bill--you should see the letters to the editor on a regular basis.

Single moms, lesbians, crooks and thieves ot to mention loads of other dems will support Mrs. Clinton.
Then if you throw some jerk like McCain against her in the finals she just may have a chance.
She does have to appeal to the left of the dem party to get to the finals but then again she has those f.b.i. files and how many hit men?
If it were McCain I'm afraid lots of Repubs will say to hell with it.

If Senate Republicans fail to stop the onslaught of Pelosi & Co. between now and then, Hillary as nominee is the ONLY thing that will drag many conservatives to the polls in Nov 2008. (Assuming we don't have any major terrorist attacks between now and then.)

IMO.

"Remember, some opponents of the Clintons have a nasty habit of getting into accidents."

Obama could be found in Ft. Marcy Park with a ripped up note saying...

"The public will never believe the innocence of the Clintons and their loyal staff"

...and the MSM wouldn't blink an eye.

"Sorry about Obama, the young fellow just couldn't handle the pressure... Well, the race is down to two now, George Snuffleluffagus, give us your take, how do you like Hillary's chances now?"

I'm not surprised. I live in NY, and I sense no palpable excitement whatsoever about our Senator's candidacy. She doesn't have her husband's "charm", you'll remember.

There's no appeal for a Comback Kid, Part Deux. She doesn't have the Underdog Appeal that her husband had. It's part of her fatal weakness. There's this Grand Unified Field Theory thing going on about Hillary/Obama:

Hillary's campaign depended on inevitability. What if Dems stopped believing she was the inevitable candidate and started voting that way? That's where Obama comes in: he knows that the activists and lots of the important party money people believe that Hillary will lose to Rudy. That's the implicit argument he's making in Hollywood and elsewhere. Why not try something else?

Obama is succeeding because Hillary never understood that people are tired of the Clinton's control of the party. In the back of her mind, Hillary has got herself half-convinced that Obama is really running for Vice-President, because she's got herself convinced that he doesn't really believe that he can beat her. She's in for a huge surprise, methinks.

Be Seeing You,

Chris
