I hear this is usual for incarcerated federal officers. It protects them from the other inmates.

Geez. First they complain that if you put him in with the general population is life will be in danger. And then when they segregate him they complain about that as well.

They only do this temporarily until the prisoner gets settled and all the paperwork comes through. He and his family know this.
