CHESTERFIELD, Mo. - Shawn Hornbeck's parents hope "to step out of the spotlight" to focus on their abducted son's healing now that he has returned home.
That plan to take a lower profile was announced Tuesday during a news conference, as a suburban St. Louis homebuilder detailed plans to build a new house for Shawn and his parents, Craig and Pam Akers. The home will include office space for the Shawn Hornbeck Foundation, which Shawn's parents began as a means to aid in the search for missing kids soon after Shawn disappeared in 2002.

They must have secured that book deal and sold the rights to the TV movie. These people have been all over the television day and night since the recovery of Shawn. No time to get re-acquainted with the son who has been missing for 4 years, much less aid in having him deprogrammed. Their priorities have been elsewhere.
If I had my way sex offenders would be in general prison population. Then each and every day would be hell for them. I don't see the need to protect these monsters.
neil cavuto had the builder who is providing the free house to the Akers on his show yesterday. Shawn's aunt works for a lumber co. which does a lot of work with this employee-owned building co. The lumber co is providing all wood products free of charge, the builder is providing the house free of charge, because they have some association with the aunt and thus know of the tragedy first hand.

They told Fox and anyone that if they asked a question that they did not have permission to ask that they would have to pay $100,000 to the ShawnHornBeck Foundation, not to them! needless to say some of the media and Fox didn't like that!
A friend of their family is the one who is building their house for them, a local builder!
Shawn's family had nothing to do with the People Magazine story.
Make a choice, would you choose a controlled environment or live with the media on your front lawn.
You keep neglecting that aspect of their situation.

AND YOU are lying! They haven't been on TV day and night since Shawn has been found! Have you seen them do an interview or been in the spotlight since last week? Nope, because they have said on their website they are not doing anymore interviews and did all of it last week to get it out of the way so they can move on with their lives!
You just really hope Shawn is awful and guilty and horrible don't you. It would make you feel so much better and superior.

the money given to Shawn since he was found is seperate from the money given to the foundation. And the money given to Shawn is in a trust fund in a bank there is someone overseeing it, not the Hornbeck's.
D'ya think? What on earth ever made them think the notariety from this horrific situation would be a good thing?
I ran for local public office last year, and had the experience of being recognized in public and had people pointing and talking about me when I entered a restaurant, and I learned that FAME SUCKS! I treasure my quiet little life where no one knows my name, but maybe that's just me.
