WHat the hell does that matter? It would just go back to the way it was.

Maybe we should band together and support Republicans so that doesn't happen....ooops, too late.

Maybe we should just leave ALL decision making and standard defining at the local level. Then no one agency or advocacy group can easily gain control of the entire education system.

If a particular city or state wants to have low standards then let them. The market will quickly identify which high school diplomas mean something and which don't.

If we eliminated the Department of Education altogether then that would be more money to close the deficit or return to you and me in the form of lower taxes.

Why Bush had to take an agency that Reagan once threatened to eliminate and turn it into a bureaucratic nightmare is beyond comprehension.
