Sam Brownback for pres
Sam Brownback

Posted on 01/23/2007 4:40:16 PM PST by dudewheresmytank

Dear Friend,

I have decided, after much prayerful consideration, to consider a bid for the Republican nomination for the presidency.

I am running to spread hope and ideas. We are a blessed nation at an important crossroads. War, corruption, disintegrating families, and for some, hopelessness, tear at the American Dream. We need hope and ideas.

I am running for America…to be of service in a crucial time of trial.

Ours is an exceptional nation. A nation between two oceans made up of people from every nation on earth. A great nation united by our ideals. But we are a great nation because of our goodness. If we ever lose our goodness, we will surely lose our greatness.

We believe in a culture of life—that every human life is a beautiful, sacred, unique child of a loving God.

We believe in justice for all—at all times.

We believe in liberty.

But the central institutions that best transmit these values—the family and the culture—are under withering attack.

We must renew our families and rebuild our culture!

We need to revitalize marriage, support the formation of families, and encourage a culture of commitment.

We need a culture that encourages what is right and discourages what is wrong—and has the wisdom to understand the difference.

Each generation of Americans is called upon to carry the torch of virtue during its brief season. If one generation lets the torch fall, its light is extinguished for all future generations. That’s a big responsibility, but we can achieve it if we pick up the torch with courage, generosity, and realism. We must meet and fulfill the job we are called to accomplish in our day. The time to act to insure our future as a nation is now.

Problems abound. The federal government wastes and spends too much. We lack compassionate yet practical programs to help the poor here and around the world. We need energy independence and alternative, clean-burning, domestic-grown fuels. The scourge of cancer has killed too many and must be stopped. We need term limits for judges and members of Congress like we have for the President. We need a flat tax instead of the dreadful, incomprehensible tax code we now have.

And we need humility.

While I am proud to be an American, when I consider my citizenship and the responsibilities it carries today in the light of eternity, I am more humbled by it. We have been given much and will be held to account for what we have been given.

I ask mostly for your prayers. Pray for America, that our division as a people might end and that our land be healed.

Thank you for your interest and support. Thank you for your prayers. Please join our campaign of national renewal and hope for the future!

God Bless you, and God Bless this nation we love so dearly,

There are only two things Brownback is conservative on -- abortion and gay marriage. Everything else.....well, the liberal streak comes out.

Which, unfortunately, puts him right where GWB - and mainstream voters - are.

Sorry, anyone who makes noises about prohibiting Gay marriage and ending abortion but supports Amnesty for illegals is just another lying fraud.

Perhaps in Kansas, your not being ran over by illegals. Any person who can be supported by La Raza will never see my vote.

Missed on Immigration

Missing in action on the war.

Sounds like someone from Iran would want in....

The guy above is with these folks-->TROP

Brownback , Tancredo and Duncan Hunter are neck and neck to see who comes in dead last in the GOP primaries.

Nothing like a newb dissing conservatives. What campaign do YOU work for? They should ask for their money back.

I am a McCain Supporter was in 2000 too. And you?

Brownback, Tancredo and Hunter have as much chance as Alan Keyes. Which is to say they are one issue candidates and are only in it to highlight their issue.

Frankly we know how this is gonna end to both our dismay. This will be an All NY race with a New York Liberal ( Giuliani) running against a VERY Liberal New Yorker ( Hillary). In the end we will both hold our noses and vote for Giuliani. Everything else is posturing.

Neither of our preferred candidates ( Your Mr. X or McCain) has any chance of winning barring the withdrawal of Giuliani.

My guess is Giuliani wins it in a squeaker. You may not like it...But that's reality.

I supported Quayle and then Bush.

And there is no way in hell I would vote for McCain. The fact that you support the dude shows you ain't a conservative.

Brownback is a one-issue candidate? He's in favor of amnesty!

Hunter? He's solid on a lot of issues.

Tancredo? Love the guy but IMO an activist does not make a good president.

McCain? More like McQueeg. Not fit to be president.

Horsefeathers. Rudy pulled out last time he faced the Hildebeast. Romney (who I don't support) has the best chance of the current alleged frontrunners, because he doesn't have the ethical baggage of McKeating Five or Guiliani Bernie Kerik.

Wasn't he on Meet the Press this weekend saying that it was up to the states to decide whether or not to allow gays to adopt children? Between this and his position on Iraq I'm starting to question his commitment to conservative principles.

I know exactly what you are gonna do...The same thing I'm gonna do...We're gonna shut our yaps and vote for Giuliani on the appointed day. And we'll both wave our Rudy stickers obediantly if not jubiliantly.

Now isn't that true,dirtboy?

Can;t go there with you. His position on the war has painted him in a weak light to the jihadist.

I initially thought that until I very recently found out that Rudy actively defending NY being a sanctuary for illegals. So much for his law-and-order and national-defense credentials.

And then we have your McAmnesty boy as well. Dumb and dumber, I just haven't decided which is which.

Yeah, last I checked, the media savaged Quayle but loves to feed McVain's ego. And he's more than glad to pimp them.

On thing we do agree on is Duncan Hunter's 'congressional pardon' notion was one stunning piece of boneheaded grandstanding that clearly demonstrates Hunter isn't presidential timber and is a constitutional dunderhead.

The media can only savage you if you give them the ammo. Lets face it....Quayle handed his adversaries ammo by the bushel basket. In this Quayle and Kerry share the skill.

By the by...What is Quayle up to these days?
