But unless this child was mentally slow, by age 3 they can communicate, and know what they can and cannot get away with. Throwing themselves on the ground and having a temper tantrum IS NOT NORMAL BEHAVIOR! Its LEARNED BEHAVIOR... they do it because they know they can get away with it.

I do work with 3-year olds, and my experience says you're wrong: you can't lump them all into one little box, like you're trying to do.

I have lots of experience dealing with 3 year olds, and yes, other than the ones who are mentally slow or off, I stand by my statements.

The ones that don't fit into the box are the ones whos parents either refuse to discipline them properly, and be the parent... or are mentally slow or off. By 3 there is no excuse for that behavior.
