We used to give them a whack on the way INTO the restaurant/church/airplane just as a reminder of what was to be expected in the event of a whine attack. Consequently I had 4 kids I could take anywhere.

These days a "good smack on the a$$" would have landed the parents in jail instead of being bumped off to another flight.

Me too. I was always more concerned with the reaction of my parents when I misbehaved than any outside situation.
