I think they fear her. You don't know when you might end up dead.
As a junior Senator, she doesn't wield the power that she used to have in the White House. The fear that people may have relates to her chances of making it back. She has a long memory, and should she manage to claw her way back in to the Oval Office, she would be ruthless to her enemies, perceived or real.
