NAFTA superhighway backers need more of your tax money
The Toccoa Record ^ | Thursday, January 11, 2007 | Joe Ingliss

Posted on 01/23/2007 7:31:18 AM PST by hedgetrimmer

Executives of large corporations, their bankers and their allies in Congress and the White House have worked together to export our manufacturing industries and their high paying jobs to China, India and Mexico.

Now they need your tax money to get the goods from their foreign factories back to your hometown where income from jobs that now pay lower wages can buy their imported products.

You see, there are not enough ports and highways to handle the flood of imports from their foreign factories.

In the process, they want to hasten formation of the North American Union (NAU) through construction of the necessary transportation infrastructure of new ports and the connecting NAFTA superhighway through Mexico, the U.S. and Canada.

The NAU is a proposed merger of Canada, Mexico and the U.S. into a European Union-style superstate.

In the U.S., manufacturing has been made unprofitable through disincentives to production posed by excessive taxes and regulations, the effects of which are driving many businesses out of the country. Millions of jobs have been exported along with production.

As factories have closed in American towns, their jobs often reappear in China and Mexico. Increasingly, China is destroying our jobs with cheap goods produced by slave labor.

The real crime is that the factories are encouraged to move to China, being subsidized by U.S. taxpayers through loans, credits and guarantees from the U.S. government, your tax money being given to the World Bank, International Monetary Fund and the Overseas Private Investment Corporation for this purpose.

Our largest exports to China are empty cargo containers and American jobs. Containers are sent back to us with slave labor produced goods that undercut American businesses.

According to a Washington Post article, “China is building close to 100 new container loading berths, each capable of shipping 250,000 containers a year, most of them to the U.S.

“Meanwhile, five berths are planned for the west coast to receive them. Something’s got to give.”

And therein lies part of the reason the backers of the NAFTA super highway need more of your tax money.

Now that they have moved most of the factories offshore, they must build more ports and highways to deliver this flood of slave labor produced goods to your local retailer.

According to planners of the NAFTA superhighway, many of these ports must be constructed in Mexico and Canada, the goods to then be shipped to U.S. Cities via corridors of the NAFTA superhighway.

Although the backers of this plan do need to get their foreign made goods to market, their primary goal is to use this transportation system to integrate the economies of Mexico, Canada and the U.S. in their drive to merge these nations into the North American Union.

To learn more, do Google searches on “NAFTA super highway” and “NAFTA super highway map.”

Why have we not heard about this from Senator Isakson, Senator Chambliss or our Congressmen? Say “no” to the NAFTA super highway and the North American Union.

TAA is our commitment that America will provide wage and health benefits while trade-displaced workers retool, retrain, and find better jobs. And a renewed TAA must do what today's program does not. TAA must be available to the eight out of 10 American workers who make their money in services professions; and it must apply to all workers displaced by trade, not just those affected by free-trade agreements. In fact, we should seriously examine the idea of expanding TAA into "GAA" -- Globalization Adjustment Assistance that would offer benefits not only to workers displaced by trade, but to those displaced by all aspects of globalization.

My head is too big for a hat, so if the NAU and this Superhighway actually come to pass, I will eat somebody else's hat.

I would say thanks to the DNC and RNC, who are beholden to the corporations and our elected officials who are beholden to them.

they need your tax money

Of course. Free Market Fundamentalism cannot function without corporate welfare and without using sacrifices of general public (like of soldiers risking their lives in defense of their nation and not of the global market)

This is one big grift by the elite to drain every last bit of capital out of the US before jumping to the next patsy. All the middle class will be left with is a mountain of debt and a dazed look on their faces.

And this is why our politicians are willing to allow illegals to infiltrate our country and assist in the lowering of US wages.

Like the frog in the boiling water, they're trying to acclimate us slowly to our new substandard wages and living.

"they're trying to acclimate us slowly to our new substandard wages and living."

It happened rather suddenly at our house. My Wife had a great job with great benefits. Suddenly, after a massive layoff. she's got a contract job (one year at a time), less money and We pay for our own benefits. Guess what? My job is in a service industry.

Read and weep, for those that thought the NAU was just someone's imagination.

I'm weeping with laughter at this nonsense. This is a completely phony issue just like the return of the Draft. A comment from a columnist is not proof that the President or any other sane politician in this country actually supports the NAU.

Until one of the NAU conspiracy tinfoilers can post a speech or document from the President himself or a member of his cabinet that shows he is supporting eliminating this country and replacing it with the NAU, I'll treat this as just another pathetic attack on the President that has no basis in fact.
