By announcing her entrance into the 2008 race Saturday, Sen. Hillary Clinton chose a setting a pre-recorded video on the Internet where she could avoid answering any questions, Rush Limbaugh noted Monday during his syndicated radio program.
Rush recalled a similar tactic employed by Clinton during her Senate campaign last year. Clinton embarked on a "listening tour where she "went around New York and she listened to what the people of New York wanted to tell her, Rush explained. The real purpose of the listening tour, according to Rush, was for Hillary to avoid tough questions.
"It was to avoid questions from reporters and anybody else so that she wouldnt have to pin herself down issue by issue by issue," Rush said. "If you are a political candidate and you can get away without taking firm positions on issue after issue after issue, then your approval numbers are less exposed to erratic movements."
Rush said Clinton's recorded request to "lets have a conversation" is no more than an extension of the listening tour nationwide.
"Shes going to talk with people and they are going to tell her what they think," he said "Then she is going to receive kudos and credit for caring what the people of America think while all the while never having to explain herself and never having to entertain hard-hitting questions from reporters," Rush said.
"When, for that matter," Rush asked, "was the last time Hillary allowed reporters to actually asked her questions about anything they wanted without trying to control the situation?"
He answered his own question.
"It hasnt happened. She doesnt get tough questions."
Reporters, Rush said, go along with the charade, which helps Clinton avoid defending her vote on the Iraq war, her support for abortion on demand, socialized medicine (HillaryCare) and other issues that could cause problems during the campaign.
"They dont want to ask her tough questions, Rush said. "The drive-by media doesnt have any questions about her issues. Shes not going to be subjected to the typical media anal exam like everybody else. Shes their protected species.
I'll be very interested to see how the presidential campaign goes.
In 2000 when she ran for Senate, she had a wall of Secret Service keeping pesky reporters from her.
Might be tougher in a presidential race.
I think it was John Fund on the Drudge radio show last night who brought that up. He said she will be running for President with something like 13 years of Secret Service protection, which is unprecedented in US history. He said he sees no reason why this run will be any different from her 2 senate runs, and the the Service will still form a wall around her, which will not only protect her physically, but also from the usual taunts and questions a candidate normally faces.
She probably recorded that In-to-win announcement prior to the "listening tour".
No comment-this woman will get away with hardly any scrutiny at all.
Hillary knows who she can control in the media and she will stick with them.
If the other dem candidates had any guts, they could bring out all the dirt on her. She has plenty. They may be too afraid though. However, they will be the recipients of all the dirty tricks she can throw at them. Hopefully someone will respond in kind. Should be fun to watch.
I think some of the Dems are recovering from "Hillary Fear" to the point where she may have to do a "Vince Foster" reprise.....to get their attention. I think her FBI files are becoming out-of-date with the turn-over that's taken place since back when she "Bergered" them.
Mrs Clinton: Do you anticipate campaign contributions from John Huang, Charlie Trie, Loral or any particular Buddhist temples any time soon?
Mrs Clinton: Do you have any idea what the documents stolen by Sandy Berger contained?
Mrs Clinton: Do you give any credence to the claims by Juanita Broderick that she was raped by your husband?
Mrs. Clinton, do you know where your husband is and who he's with?
Mrs Clinton: How many years did you and Webb Hubbell know each other?
Mrs. Clinton, has your husband done the cigar trick with you?
Mrs. Clinton, has your husband taken an Aids test?
paloma, all good questions BUT I really want to ask her if she wears boxers or briefs, or better yet a jock strap!!!!!!
Mrs. Clinton: Did you have Chelsea before or after your husband began having the "flareups" mentioned by Monica Lewinsky to Linda Tripp?
It's also because she is a horrible public speaker. "I am sick and tired..........."
Mrs. Clinton, would you do that Ex-Wife from Hell voice for us again? Start out with "I'm sick and tired..."
Mrs. Clinton, why do your friends end up dying or going to prison?
