Hagel Still Thinking About 2008
Sen. Chuck Hagel said "that if he launches a campaign for the presidency in 2008 he would do so as a Republican. But the Nebraskan didn't completely rule out a bid as an independent," the Omaha World Herald reports.

Another bit if un-news from the site:
Kerry Hasn't Decided Yet
An aide to Sen. John Kerry (D-MA) tells WBZ-TV that the 2004 Democratic presidential nominee "is in the final stages of his decision-making process regarding a run for president and an announcement is expected soon."
"Another source close to Kerry says there's no doubt he wants to run, but he's still undecided."

But the Nebraskan didn't completely rule out a bid as an independent Yep, Hagel read the tea leaves and knew that conservatives aren't going to support him in the primaries. Now he's going to do Hillary's dirty work and run as a "Unity 08" candidate or something.
People like Hagel shouldn't be elected dog catcher. It's a shame that the Democrat Senator in NE is more conservative than he is.
To: Torie
How absolutely pitiful and delusional of the senior senator from Nebraska!
Even a RINO like Susan Collins of Maine wouldn't have to announce that they're running as a REPUBLICAN.
Maybe a Kerry/Hagel or Hagel/Kerry ticket is what this nation has been looking for in 2008.

Chuck Hagel, like Lindsey Graham, is less committed to any Republican agenda, than they are to some kind of change. Not sure what that change should be, but they are definitely restless about SOMETHING. But because they lack imagination, they choose to co-opt some of the Dem'crat talking points, and end up sounding like they have deserted the commitment to support and continue to build the American Dream. Dem'crats, on the other hand, have demonstrated over and over that they are ASHAMED of the concept of what America is, and work assiduously to make their constituents feel guilty about BEING American, and to introduce changes to the existing order that dilute and eliminate those characteristics that are uniquely American.
