Arab-American to become first Massachusetts homeland security

BOSTON --More than five years after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, some people still feel nervous when they sit down on plane next to a person from the Middle East. The wildly popular terrorism-themed TV show, "24," portrays Arabs as evil. Some radio talk show hosts casually use ethnic slurs to describe Arabs.

Massachusetts' new homeland security chief hopes her Lebanese heritage coupled with her background as a high-level counter-terrorism expert will help chip away at negative perceptions some Americans hold when it comes to Arabs and terrorism.

"I watch "24" like everyone else. There is no Arab on that show who is not a terrorist or ex-terrorist," said Juliette Kayyem, who officially becomes undersecretary of homeland security on Monday. "I hope the American public can separate fiction from fact, but I worry that the only representations of Arabs on TV are as terrorists."

"will help chip away at negative perceptions some Americans hold when it comes to Arabs and terrorism. "
Is she saying we should have a positive attitude towards terrorism?

Is she muslim? If so, lying is an expected tactic when dealing with us infidels in order to gain advantage. She is not to be trusted.

Check out her CV here

She used to work for Reno. No wonder Patrick chose her.

Ms. Kayyem in her own words...

Tortured Arguments: The Rules Are for Us, Not the Terrorists

"...but I worry that the only representations of Arabs on TV are as terrorists."

Perhaps this idiot should spend more time watching the activities of actual terrorists rather than watching TV.

There is a huge hole in this story. It makes it very clear that she is Lebanese, and Arab, but it doesn't say whether she is a Muslim or a Maronite Christian, of which there are many in the U.S. Does anyone know? If she is a Muslim, then this seems to be a clear case of putting Mrs. Fox in charge of henhouse security.

Verisimilitude, saith the Preacher, verisimilitude.

You guys have got to read this. Holy moly.

In Kayyem's own words again...

Engage 'Them' There is no erasing terrorism. But the U.S. must make it less attractive. Here are steps that can help.

Glad I don't live in MA.

This is no worse than the former NJ governor appointing his gay lover to the same post. Or is it?

I read it. What an ass. I would not put her in charge of a school crossing. She is not even on America's side. According to her, all this terrorism is a result of America's misguided policies. I guess if there is going to be another attack on American soil, it will happen in Boston.
