Same here. I was more happy that it's Chicago, my hometown, and Indianapolis, another Upper Midwest town, playing for the NFL championship.
And really, I was more interested in the exciting FOOTBALL games that were played today than in the race angle.
But I suppose it is an historical footnote worth mentioning at least. I just hope it doesn't dominate the coverage. But it probably will--in spite of the coaches themselves wanting to downplay that angle and keep the focus on FOOTBALL and the players.
That's my sentiments too. It's worth mentioning. It's another milestone, but not a huge one. And both men want to talk about football, not act as if they're trailblazers who have done some amazing thing despite adversity. Their adversity was real, but it's not the same as 40 years ago. There are quite a few black NFL coaches. Some are good. Some are not so good. These two are good. But for them, it's about the game.
I know, Da Bears and Colts are my 2 favorite teams.. I;m from NW Indiana sheesh... not sure who to root for in the SB... sheesh what a problem to have!!! I think that I'm going to root for Peyton since he has been in the league longer... Although I won't mind either way, Urlacher deserves a ring also...
