as for personal baggage, neither of them can really say anything about the other

The Beast has more baggage than Samsonite.

And her rear-end competes with American Tourister.

Exactly. McCain, Giuliani and Romney represent the Rockefeller wing of the Republican Party. Bigger governmnet, more taxes and programs, social engineering, and co-existence with Islamofascists regardless of any statements to the contrary.

Hunter and Gingrich and Gilmore, if he runs, represent tha diameteric opposite.

However, given the two terms of "Compassionate Conservative" Bush, who at least initially gave lip-service to conservatives until he no longer needed us after 2004, the former three candidates represent no substantive difference with Hillery on social issues.

Its up to the rank and file conservatives in the Republican Party as to whether or not they want a party of their own and whether or not they want to take back the Republican Party from the Roves, Mehlmans, Eisenbergs and Whitmans.

If it comes down to Rudy or Mrs. Clinton( the enabler) I'd vote Rudy in a heart beat. Though he is not my first choice.

"My prediction is that Rudy will be smart and get a southern conservative...."

I do believe that would be Newt now....

Rudy hasn't formally announced yet, but he does have an exploratory committee which is equivalent to almost announcing. Here is the website:

I think a Rudy/Newt ticket would be a winner.

Televangelist Pat Robertson said in 2005 on ABC's This Week about Giuliani:

"I like him a lot - although he doesn't share my particular point of view on social issues. He did a super job running the city and I think he's made a good president."

It flabberghasts me that Obama can be as high in the polls as he is. Astounding.

That people can even be serious about him IS mind-boggling.

But then, even with Repub problems and disappointments; - including the biggest - having 'no-Will' Repubs - that we have a Demrats Congress is nonetheless; mind-boggling as well.

Having either Giuliani or McCain as GOP standard bearer is MSM's dream come true.

It's also an incentive to stay home on election day. Neither meets my definition of a Republican.

Thanks. I'd like to see Newt as Prez....but even having him on the ticket with Guilliani will push people away. They have too much incorrect madeup old dirt on Newt....that unfortunately poisoned his reputation for good.
