Thousands expected to join March for Life tomorrow
Washington Times ^ | January. 21, 2007 | Arlo Wagner

More than 20,000 people are expected tomorrow to come to the District to mark the 34th anniversary of the Supreme Court's abortion ruling in the Roe v. Wade case.

Rallies are scheduled to begin at 8:45 a.m., followed by a March for Life procession and a youth Mass at the Verizon Center in Northwest.

The march is expected to begin at 1 p.m. and last more than three hours -- starting on the Mall, between Fourth and Seventh streets Northwest, then moving east across Pennsylvania Avenue, past the U.S. Capitol and ending at East Capitol and Second streets Northeast, outside the Supreme Court.

On Jan. 22, 1973, the court ruled on a Texas case that state abortion laws violated the U.S. Constitution's right to privacy. The court ruling, in effect, protected privacy rights until about the seventh month of pregnancy.

If this were a March in favor of baby-killiing (aka "Womens' Right to Choose") they would be touting this size crowd as a "MILLION" or more!

I noted in church this weekend a memorial sign and flowers for the "45 million aborted babies" since 1973. That total is 10 million more souls than the population of the entire state of California when I was in high school and had to memorize that fact.

Think about the strength of this nation that has been depleted over the years. We all shuld do more to get this law overturned. A government we back has just hung a man for killing far fewer people than we have allowed to be aborted since 1973. Don't misunderstand. I believe that Saddam's punishment was just, but what will be punishement for us?

Interesting! In his homily (sermon) this morning, our priest was talking about the March for Life and said that the media NEVER give the right numbers for the March for LIfe.

Our priest also said, "Thank God we have a president who respects life. And we must say it right now because we're coming to a time when we may not be able to say it." (Pres. Bush had just signed a proclamation about the right to life which father read to the parishoners.)

The American media LOVES abortion (at all stages, especially third term), euthenasia, "doctor" assisted suicide and "mercy" killing. It's just the murderers they don't want killed.

Abortion is not about saving women’s lives!

Studies Find Abortions Have Long-Term Effects

45,951,133

Total Abortions since 1973

------------------------------------------------------------

Why the drop after 1960? (in deaths of women from illegal abortions)

The reasons were new and better antibiotics, better surgery and the establishment of intensive care units in hospitals. This was in the face of a rising population. Between 1967 and 1970 sixteen states legalized abortion. In most it was limited, only for rape, incest and severe fetal handicap (life of mother was legal in all states). There were two big exceptions — California in 1967, and New York in 1970 allowed abortion on demand. Now look at the chart carefully.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Abortion Statistics - Decision to Have an Abortion (U.S.)

· 25.5% of women deciding to have an abortion want to postpone childbearing

· 21.3% of women cannot afford a baby

· 14.1% of women have a relationship issue or their partner does not want a child

· 12.2% of women are too young (their parents or others object to the pregnancy)

· 10.8% of women feel a child will disrupt their education or career

· 7.9% of women want no (more) children

· 3.3% of women have an abortion due to a risk to fetal health

2.8% of women have an abortion due to a risk to maternal health

----------------------------------------------------------------------

So how many women’s lives have been saved by abortion?

Only about 3% of abortions since 1972 were reported to be “due to a risk to maternal health.” A reasonable person would recognize that not all of those cases represent a lethal risk. But let’s say they did. That means that nearly 45 million fetuses were butchered to save the lives of about 1.3 million women. Or put another way; 35 babies are killed to save each woman.

Abortion was legal in all 50 states prior to Roe v. Wade in cases of danger to the life of the woman.
