The 117th South Carolina General Assembly has convened and pro-gun State Representative Greg Delleney (R-43) has introduced legislation to make South Carolina a straight recognition state for Right-to-Carry (RTC) permits.
H 3212 would remove from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) the authority to arbitrarily determine which permits issued by other states will be recognized in South Carolina. Instead, H 3212 would mandate that ALL VALID OUT-OF-STATE RTC PERMITS be recognized in South Carolina. This legislation will not only greatly increase the number of permits issued by other states that will be honored in South Carolina, but will also increase the number of states that will recognize a South Carolina permit.
Please contact your State Representative at (803) 734-2402 and urge him or her to cosponsor this critical legislation. You may also want to take a moment to thank Representative Delleney for his efforts to promote our Right to Keep and Bear Arms and our right to personal protection.
If you are a permit holder from a state that South Carolina doesn't currently recognize, this bill would solve that issue. If you have reason to travel to SC and you wish to continue carrying concealed there, it would be a good idea to contact the SC Legislators and let them know you'd be much more likely to visit their state if this bill passes.

Hit your PING lists with this my fellow RKBA FReepers!
Best wishes but SLED is very powerful politically which is bad for a law enforcement agency. They should be politically neutered.

Well, if this passes there'll be no place in the southeast that I cannot carry. Please forgive me if I don't hold my breath.
The NRA took down their reciprocity map, what is the best, updated, one page source for keeping up with reciprocity?
I am almost certain SC recognizes GA's CC permit. Are you certain about that list?

Try here.

SC most definately does NOT recognize Georgia's Firearms Permit (CCW).
It has to do with Ga not requiring the same level of training as does SC before issuance of license.
Thanks, that will do it.
Thanks. What nonsense. GA doesn't honor SC's either. I guess I'll have to be careful when traveling there.
Thanks, I like that site even better.
Thanks for the ping.
SC CCW BUMP!
If I recall, Jake Knotts sidetracked this legislation the last time because he provides CCW permit training and this would have diminished his role. Anyone else remember that?
Anyone have more info?
