A viable third party is DESPERATELY need right about now. But it must be done correctly to have even the thinnest chance of success. The Libertarian Party sounds good for the first two minutes, then they start to sound like radicals, and that isn't good for mainstream support.

1. Draw up a platform and let us consider it. But remember that every issue is polarizing, to some degree. This is a minefield.

2. Everybody needs to spread the word to their own circle of friends. Can you say "grassroots" support?

3. Failure is painful but success might be even more so. Learn how to manage success.

I will be watching this effort VERY closely and hoping for the best. Let the games begin!

What I would suggest is to state some goals that you (we) would like to accomplish. Then come up with some strategies to accomplish those goals. And finally access each strategy's cost and pick the one that you want to accomplish. IMHO.

Based on historical perspectives, third parties don't do too well in the US.

We might as well try to start a third party. The Republicans may never get their power back.
