Probably so, I still think of low running planes as being for props.

Think, if it was a '57 how much more fuselage length you could have for rotary launcher etc and more wing pylons. It does not have to go as slow as the P3 to still work well for that mission.
I am old school too, but I try to stay up with it when I can.
