They were probably carrying whatever is standard issue for the mexican army. Not even chuckie shumer could ban the weapons carried by Mexican drug dealers. The NG troops were unarmed.

I've heard a few rumors about what happened there, but notice how the MSM has not interviewed any to the Guard troops that were present or even reported the story. Hmmm... wonder why that is...
