He was an officer with Lord Kitchener and in Cuba (and India). He was also First Lord of the Sea. If Rudy had been Secretary of the Navy, for example, that would be a good thing. He wasn't. He is a lawyer, a gun grabbing pro-abortion extremist who will NEVER get my vote.

But Rudy took on the mob in NYC. A prosecutor in NYC against the mob isn't an easy job. I lived in NYC when he came to prominence. Here is a bit from wiki about Rudy...

It was in this position that he first gained national prominence by prosecuting numerous high-profile cases, including the successful prosecutions of Wall Street figures Ivan Boesky and Michael Milken for insider trading. He also spearheaded the effort to jail drug dealers, combat organized crime, break the web of corruption in government, and prosecute white-collar criminals. He amassed a record of 4,152 convictions with only 25 reversals.
