Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- Hundreds of women who have had abortions and regret their decisions will rally at the Supreme Court building on Monday. Abortion is one of the most common surgical procedures but rarely do women who have them talk about it. One pro-abortion organization hopes to change that. The Silent No More Awareness Campaign is organizing the rally which has quickly become a highly anticipated annual event in the short time since its inception.
On Monday evening, 35 courageous women from all over the country will tell all, sharing the secret that once controlled their lives.
These women have joined the campaign to take their message to the nation and to tell the public that women deserve to know the truth about the emotional pain after abortion and that help after a painful abortion experience is available.
"This is not a rally about abortion politics as usual, it's about reaching out to people who are struggling after an abortion and don't know help is available," Georgette Forney, event organizer and director of Anglicans for Life told LifeNews.com in a statement.
"It's also about helping the public understand that reproductive rights aren't really right for women. Abortion affects us emotionally, physically and spiritually," Forney added.
This is the fifth anniversary of women who have had abortions staying silent no more. This year, testimonies will feature a couple from St. Louis sharing the pain they lived with after aborting their first child years ago.
More than 20 post-abortion rallies and gatherings are taking place nationwide during the last two weeks of January this year as state Silent No More groups carry out their own events.
The rallies also come at the time when leaders in the field are pointing to a host of medical and mental health problems women face following an abortion.
In October 2006, some fifteen of Great Britain's leading obstetricians and psychiatrists penned an open letter to the London Times acknowledging the psychological consequences of abortions.
Also last year, a university researcher in New Zealand conducted an extensive study on thousands of women and found that 40 percent of those who have abortions suffer from mental health problems following an abortion.
Those problems included depression, addictions to alcohol or drugs, sleep disorders, thoughts of suicide and the problems were much greater than those faced by women who had miscarries or carried their pregnancy to term.

...women who don't regret their abortions were busy leading their lives. A fundamental right which they chose to deny their own children.

It's amazing the crazy theories people will believe, when faced with absolute proof to the contrary.
I was listening to a strange radio broadcast recently, about one man's view of the world and outer space. It was hilarious in that he seemed to believe what he was saying, and the callers did too. One of his theories was that when we die, our soul goes to the moon, where it is recycled, and sent back to Earth into the body of a two-day-old baby. Up to that point, he believes the child has no soul. After a while, my stomach hurt so bad from laughing, I had to stop listening.

My post was ONLY about women who regret have an abortion vs. women who don't. You can ignore it at all costs to keep your construct viable.

Jeering at the women who sincerely regret killing their unborn children is to you an appropriate response to this article?

I'm saying, as I've always said, the majority of women who regret having an abortion is small compared to the women who don't. It's not an argument to hang your hat on. That's all I've ever said.

So, you believe we should applaud the women who can casually have another human being killed and never had any regrets afterward?

Jeering at the women who sincerely regret killing their unborn children is to you an appropriate response to this article? It's a lot like the Islamofascists who cheer every suicide bomber.

I didn't say that...How many different way can I say it and have you people actually understand without spinning into saying something I'm not. I'M SAYING FOR THE LAST TIME: It's a small percentage of women who actually regret having an abortion. Now, come close...this is the point...It's NOT a good argument against abortion. Can you just read something for what it means, and not put your bias into it?

So, in your opinion, abortion is morally defensible because many women who murder their children feel no guilt afterward?

Oh boy...hundreds of women....the thousands and thousands and thousands of women who don't regret their abortions were busy leading their lives. I've only ever known one woman who said she didn't regret her abortion(s) - she was an alcoholic with many other problems as well. Every other woman I've known who's told me she had an abortion has either said she regretted the abortion itself, or regretted that she had no other choice. That second feeling is why I focus most of my efforts on crisis pregnancy centers.
I'll be at the March Monday, carrying my "I regret my abortion" sign. I've been there all five years now. The first year, I think it was about eight women. Last year, it was several hundred marching, carrying the signs, but only about thirty spoke in front of the Supreme Court later on.
Vilification like albie's is what stops many women from stepping forward to say they made the wrong choice.

You have a right to believe what you want to believe. I'm telling you you're wrong. The numbers bear me out.

What would be a good argument against abortion for someone who feels no regret at killing their own child?

See, that's the kind of attitude that will keep your side on the losing side for a long time. As long as you keep it emotional, you'll never get anyplace. Nobody wants to debate emotion. You debate facts...that's all. I'm trying to do you a favor, but your blind emotion won't even see that.

You see women who kill their unborn children as being on the "winning side" of this issue?
Convincing me and others who believe that abortion is wrong and also harms women is doing us a favour?
Would you say that emotion involved in this issue is of more concern to you than moral rightness or wrongness?

You have a right to believe what you want to believe. I'm telling you you're wrong. The numbers bear me out. Are you saying that women are "wrong" to regret having an abortion? Because, if that is what you believe, that is one of the most callous and morally repugnant things I've ever heard.
As far as the "numbers" go, a great many Germans also supported Hitler's agenda. Does popular support make something legitimate in your mind? What about slavery, in the early 19th century only a very small number of Americans wanted to abolish slavery, the huge majority either supported it or were indifferent -- should slavery have been ignored because the "numbers" weren't there to support abolition?
