Would FR be shut down??

No. Jim Rob would just have to "register as lobbyists and file financial reports". I don't see the big deal here. But it is the little guy, one-man blogger, who is going to be at the disadvantage.

I don't see the big deal here. Well I do. Because you see, once the socialists get their noses under the tent on this they will continue to stifle just about any kind of speech they deem "inappropriate."

These people are stepping over lines, and some of us are getting sick and tired of it.

Why should he have to go to the trouble and expense? Free Republic does not lobby legislators. It may in some cases influence citizens, who may turn around and influence their elected representatives; but that does not make it a lobbying organization as most people understand the term.
