Those who say, "Saddam didn't attack us." simply do not or refuse to understand the nature of the enemy. The enemy is EVERYWHERE. The enemy is "radical" islam and its proponents. There is NO political solution since it is an ideology with very specific goals (which have been told to us repeatedly) that we are fighting.
The "rules of the game" are not the same as in a "normal" war. It is imperitive to understand the rules the enemy plays by and to understand that they have a very different belief system than we do. Their ultimate goal is world domination of Islam and a worldwide Caliphate with under Sharia law. Most people refuse to acknowledge this and until they do winning will be very difficult.
When President Bush stated that this will be a long war and a different war he wasn't kidding. This was IS WWIII and it will not end in our lifetime so long as most people refuse to understand what it is all about.
You obviously know and have given a good deal of thought to this so perhaps you can answer my question - Why Iraq?
Their ultimate goal is world domination of Islam and a worldwide Caliphate with under Sharia law. Most people refuse to acknowledge this and until they do winning will be very difficult.
Wasn't Saddam more an impediment to the establishment of Sharia law in Iraq than a supporter? Didn't we back him in his war with the radical Islamic regime in Iran?
Absolutely correct.
heartfelt thanks for, at last!, a post that is clearly on point and substantive
