Thats why I would never talk to military investigators without a lawyer. I would never hold it against a soldier if they asked for a lawyer.
I sat on 3 court martials. The military investigators will use all types of tricks to get you to talk without a lawyer. They will of course state you don't need a lawyer, what will your 1SG or Commander think if they knew you weren't cooperating.
Sadly I think too many investigators get an idea, theory, of what happened and get the facts to fit their theory.
Or create them if necessary.
Was involved with one and it was sad from the start to the end.
