will these guys get a chance at having a fair trial?

The method in the Hamdania case was to pile on pressure and get plea deals. That way, a trial could be avoided altogether. Few corporals or sergeants have the resources needed to put on a rigorous defense or get the best counsel. Fortunately, some of the families of the Haditha Marines have been willing to sell their homes and hire first-class lawyers. We have to hope it makes a difference and that justice will prevail.

Thats really sad that they have to do that. I normally support the President but shame on Bush for letting this stuff happen.

Is there a defense fund set up for these guys?

In the Hamdania case they rolled the corpsman, Bacos and then everything went downhill from there. It appears the prosecutors have rolled Sgt. De La Cruz in the Haditha case. Wutrich's attorney is disputing the statements of Sgt. De la Cruz. Sounds like Sgt. De la Cruz is gonna be the first to take a plea deal in the Haditha case.
