Great heavens - I have a habit of couching the gun control debate this way - if the Second Amendment applies only to government-approved militias, how long will it be before the First Amendment applies only to government-approved journalists?
Evidently I have my answer - right now.

Another proof that the Net is having its effect. The privileged political class has not found ways to deal with it, as it has with the MSM and with their grassroots. The Net subverts all these efforts, which worked so well in the past decades. The've learned to deal with the idiot box since Nixon unshaven mug in the 1960 debates, they've even learned to deal with street protests, but the Net? No way to control it. Until now, Mr Robinson.

GrassRootsFreedom.com is reporting that the U.S. Senate is considering legislation that would require political bloggers with readership over 500 to register as lobbyistsSome major cognitive dissonance going on with the name and the mission... either that or... yeah... it's a smokescreen.
This bill must never pass. The freedom of the Internet must be protected, and here, I think liberal Dems would agree.

And the demoncrats accuse Republicans of taking away rights.
Welcome to the world of socialism. The demoncrats want to control free speech along with every aspect of our lives.

What would happen if every conservative in the country registered as a lobbyist? The would have tens of million of forms to process and the system would crash.
(Or, they would bring in a bunch of illegal Spanish speaking employees to process them.)

For now at least, the bill (S.1) has not passed. Sen.Gregg introduced an amendment to the bill today allowing for the Presidential line-item veto.
This infuriated the dems, who refused to allow a vote on the amendment. The Republicans retaliated by invoking cloture on S.1. The bill is stalled.

Well, I hope everyone is happy with the Democrat leadership. Bad as the Republicans were, it's nothing to what's going to be shoved down our throats.

You'd think they'd spend their time going after child pornographers on the internet, but heck no, our senators have all gone nuts. They worry more about us freepers & what we're saying!
Like I've said before, the USA is looking more & more like the old USSR!!!!

Blogs are nothing more than meeting places to discuss the issues of the day. In colonial times they published items in the town square where people met and discussed. Regulation of blogs is a non-starter for people who like their personal freedoms. Democrats have their free love, we have our free association.

Congress must be terrified by the internet.
Why is the new democrat majority so TERRIFIED WHITLESS over citizens discussing politics.
Are they affrait of 300 million individual Rush Limbaughs?
