Weather Channel Climate Expert Calls for Decertifying Global Warming Skeptics
U. S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works ^ | January 17, 2007 | Marc Morano

Posted on 01/17/2007 6:09:32 PM PST by rottndog

The Weather Channel’s most prominent climatologist is advocating that broadcast meteorologists be stripped of their scientific certification if they express skepticism about predictions of manmade catastrophic global warming. This latest call to silence skeptics follows a year (2006) in which skeptics were compared to "Holocaust Deniers" and Nuremberg-style war crimes trials were advocated by several climate alarmists.

The Weather Channel’s (TWC) Heidi Cullen, who hosts the weekly global warming program "The Climate Code," is advocating that the American Meteorological Society (AMS) revoke their "Seal of Approval" for any television weatherman who expresses skepticism that human activity is creating a climate catastrophe.

"If a meteorologist can't speak to the fundamental science of climate change, then maybe the AMS shouldn't give them a Seal of Approval. Clearly, the AMS doesn't agree that global warming can be blamed on cyclical weather patterns," Cullen wrote in her December 21 weblog on the Weather Channel Website. [Note: It is also worth taking a look at the comments section at the bottom of Cullen’s blog, very entertaining.] See: http://climate.weather.com/blog/9_11396.html This latest call to silence skeptics of manmade global warming has been the subject of discussion at the annual American Meteorological Society’s Annual conference in San Antonio Texas this week. See: http://www.ametsoc.org/meet/annual

"It's like allowing a meteorologist to go on-air and say that hurricanes rotate clockwise and tsunamis are caused by the weather. It's not a political statement...it's just an incorrect statement," Cullen added. [Note to Cullen: As the resident ‘climate expert’ at TWS, you should know that Hurricanes in the Southern Hemisphere do rotate clockwise. Also, Cullen and the media have ignored the growing climate skepticism by prominent scientists see: http://epw.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?FuseAction=PressRoom.PressReleases&Co

Man, old Heidi is taking it in the chops on her blog. It's gratifying to see how many people are taking issue with her threat to those who don't toe the Global Warming line.

There aren't even 150 years of reliable date, for the love of God! Prior to about 1960 temperatures were collected at limited locations and prior to 1900, I don't trust the methods of collecting it. 70% of this planet is covered with water and no one really collected weather data on it until the US Navy started it. Before the Cold War most navies were patrolling shipping lanes, a small part of the oceans. And prior to nuclear powered ships, hardly anyone took the time to go sail around the middle of the Pacific Ocean and take its temperature.

Gone are the days when the Weather Channel used to give us the weather forecast and show a few people thrown around during a hurricane.

Today, they are nothing but doom and gloom. I just saw a report fled that complained about all the snow in Denver when a few years ago they complained there wasn't the "normal" heavy snows" in Denveer due to global warming. Damned if you do damned if you don't statist ideology has replaced science.

This says it all:

"Global Warming", now being sold as "Climate Change", is a hoax, plain and simple. Of course the best way so far I have found to confront and confuse GW believers is to ask them one simple question:

Why is it called "Greenland"?

They can never explain their way out of that one.
