Got that right. There may be an anti Ahmadinejad faction in Iran, but if westerners were to invade, they would defend in waves...no one wants to be invaded.

they would defend in waves Would our guys machinegun waves of 13 and 14-year-old unarmed Basiji. What would be the reaction here?

Apparently the Bush administration doesn't care if WE are
invaded (from the south).

We know exactly what we are doing with the additional forces and carrier groups.
Iran has recently gotten the attitude that they can do whatever they want and nothing happens to them. I mean getting REALLY cocky with their words but more importantly actions , so we are putting more pressure.
Result: Sadr tells his guys to stand down, and go home (for now) and Amanotjob in Iran starts getting rumblings of uncomfort.
Just relax, what needs to be done in Iran will be done, don't project your fears onto our strategy.
For example, the 'handoff' of the diplomacy to the EU3+Germany years ago was not done by accident.
You are correct about the pro-democracy forces within Iran, they are in consideration.
Remember what Bush said about fighting the Iran/Syria influence on Iraq from within Iraq (but not going to or even really calling out Iran).
The larger solution to Iran takes all 3 of the above and applies it to Iran as economic/political/militaristic synergy of forces and how it relates to Iraq.
