Lee Harvey Oswald renounced his American citizenship when he defected to East Germany.
The State Department never acknowledged the document he signed as valid in order to keep their legal actions regarding him open - so he was technically an American citizen when he died.
But I do not consider anyone who renounces his citizenship, chooses to reside in a country hostile to America, badmouths America to foreigners and volunteers to spy on and kill Americans in furtherance of that hostile state's policies to be an American, even if State chose not to revoke his passport.

I am amazed. Hitherto, I believed that sort of neo-Marxist rhetoric had passed into oblivion - except among academic cranks - after the demise of the Soviet Union.
No one enslaved in this country. Even the homeless retain the freedom to move about, assuming they can acquire the means. No business has a monopoly and if one hates his/her present employer, a change is almost always possible.

That is why American citizens aren't used. People are trafficked in. Then they have no recourse because their papers are held and their families back in their own country are threatened harm.
Very sad.

The traffic in people is a criminal act - now - but technically speaking the importation of slaves was not illegal until 1807 (I think) and slavery was not abolished until 1965.

African Americans do not owe white people anything. I will not debate the issue of the Commonwealth owing African Americans an apology, however I will say this: The senator believes African American should simply get over it.Individuals which share these opinions please get over it. African Americans did not choose to be thrown into slavery so they should not apologize to white people for undoing an injustice they started. If African Americans are expected to let it go then you let it go by realizing that the thoughts and treatment of African Americans in the past were based on pure ignorance and unfortunately today that ignorance is still present. Possibly, if people did not continue to exhibit such ignorant, prejudice behavior there would not be a need to continue to deal with racial issues but as long as there are closed minded people in the world the race issue will exist. We are all created by God, no one greater than he, for you are no better than I nor I any better than you.
