We're going to see the typical "run to the right" by the GOP candidates during the primaries, and the careful dance to the left for the general election.
It happens every time.

"agents of intolerance."
I'm beginning to think we need an 'agent of intolerance' in the White House.

We need leaders who don't have to run anywhere...except straight at the enemy to destroy them.

Ah ambition. What one will do to feed the need, can sometimes be head turning.

The tack however strikes me as paticularly grotesque. McCain loathed these folks, personally traducing them, and now he is at their feet. It is all just over the top for my taste.

Don't waver Dobson! McCain's a traitor to the party. I don't care if it's supposed to be 'his turn'.

My sentiments exactly.
"I'm happy to say that I've established a dialogue with a number of other leaders," including......"Purpose Driven Life" author Rick Warren.
Truly not impressed. Rich Warren is purposely and selfishly driven. McCain and Warren - same mold.
To: Torie
I think he still loathes them.
it appears you have to be nice to people you hate in order to get elected anymore.

I would not vote for nor support John McCain for one simple reason ... "Campaign Finance Reform" .. otherwise known as the 'incumbent protection act', and 'American citizens, shut up and let your politicians do all the talking'.
An egregious violation of the First Amendment, they're now looking to expand CFR into so-called "grassroots movements" encompassing the Internet, possibly Free Republic even.
I recieved a fundraising letter from McCain today in the mail, and it immediately went into my shredder

There is no possible way I could vote for McCain. In my mind he is a despicable American. He votes and pushes legislation not for the good of America but for the good of McCain. Of all the politicians out there, he is the only one I find detestable. If he is the Republican choice, count me out.

McCain has said gay marriage should not be legal but has angered some conservatives with his opposition to a constitutional amendment banning same-sex unions. The Arizona senator said the issue should be left to the states.Imagine that. A Republican saying something should be left to the separate and sovereign states, as per the Constitution and the 10th Amendment. Well that's a new tact for them I suppose...
And Dobson, the Christian 'conservative', gets upset about it. This is the problem I have with his sort. I don't disagree with his values but not everything was intended to be determined by the 537 idiots in Washington. Much was intended to be left to the states. And if we are ever going to return to the Constitution and its limitations, as 'conservatives' claim, it's going to have to start somewhere. Conservatives should not want, desire, nor need for there to be federal legislation for everything.
Now all the 'our morals are going to hell, we need a law' lot may flame away...

Your comment on ambition is very apt.
Naked ambition is just one reason why this country can't afford a McCain presidency.

I recieved a fundraising letter from McCain today in the mail, and it immediately went into my shredderBad move. They normally come with postage-paid envelopes. Write "You Get Nothing!" with a big, fat sharpie, then drop it in the mail. That way he gets to pay postage.
There are other, more creative ways to use post-paid envelopes as well.

Well....I have no intention of flaming.
But if you are sucker enough to believe that McCain's record shows he is actually for states rights, then please feel free to flame back...........
