President Bush met with United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon in the Oval Office today.
President Bush also welcomed the World Series Champion St. Louis Cardinals to the White House this afternoon.
Vice President Cheney was at the Pentagon speaking at the naming ceremony of the USS Gerald R Ford.
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice continues her travels and meetings in the mid-east.
First Lady Laura Bush continues her three-day visit to France, touring a number of landmarks in Paris.
President Bush has proclaimed today (Tuesday January 16th) as "Religious Freedom Day." In the presidential proclamation, Bush said today commemorates the passage of the 1786 Virginia Statute for Religious Freedom, which was written by Thomas Jefferson, and to celebrate the First Amendment's protection of the right to worship freely.
The proclamation notes that people in other parts of the world don't enjoy the same liberty, and many face religious persecution. Bush calls the freedom of worship" a gift from the Almighty", and he says the United States, quote, "Must continue to promote the importance of religious freedom at home and abroad."
Something that occurred to me earlier this week, is that perhaps The Big Fat-headed Blowhard was talking so much about the television show "24", because he has lost quite a bit of his audience. I think he's trying to capitalize on 24's fan base.
I really can't stand him anymore.
Great stories and pictures about Marine Lance Cpl. Chad Watson. I am so grateful to him. May God be with him as he continues to rehab and adjust.
Thank you for the Dose,JustA!
You are terrific!
BUMP and thanks. I will do my best to remember to repost tonight.
Nope... I could still have another "accident."
Not I!!! I stopped turning on the TV nearly 2 years ago, with the exception of FOX, which went off about a year ago.
Two years ago I was in the greater Raleigh area and a local guy, (Bill LeMay, iirc) who was fabulous, came on after Rush. Haven't listened to Sean since.
It is encouraging to hear that others are fed up with "our" talkers, too. Lately, I turn Rush off more than I listen to him. I do not support the media or hollyweird with my time or money and I despise the rats, so why do I want to listen to "our" side talk about them incessantly? I don't give a rip about 24 or American Idol, Brad-Jen-Ang-MJ et al.
There is plenty going on to counter the nutjobs that they could talk about. For instance, did you know that a contingent of Gold Star Families went to FREE Iraq 2 months ago? Have you heard ANY of "our" talkers discuss this historic trip? Have any of them had these parents on their programs to talk about the trip? Have any of the TV shows done a 3-part series on any of those parents or the trip?
The answer to all of the above is a resounding NO!!!
As a matter of fact, and this is straight from the lips of one of those GS parents, one program actually hung up on the call placed to the program. Let some fringe loony tune from the other side call and we are subjected to several minutes of their nonsense! It is infuriating.
Much easier on the blood pressure to turn the stupid noise off!
Thanks. Didn't want to bother him with trivia, but I was curious. ;*)
Hi Meg! Our troops need to know that our grateful nation is behind them. Thanks!
I only know about the Gold Star Families from FR!!!
I wonder if Howlin knows of this local Raleigh guy.
You did such a wonderful job last night --- want tonight too?
He's still on the radio here; WPTF; he comes on after Rush and before Sean (delayed).
He is G O O D.

Thank you for all the support you give!
Woo-Hoo! How about that! Thanks for the link.
ROTFLOL!!!!!!!!!!! Whew! That was a good one!
I wouldn't want to deprive the Dose community of your OUTSTANDING work! ;*)
But, I am BEGGING.
I don't know about you, but I think the pundits are the epitome of fair-weather friends. When President Bush was very popular, they couldn't say enough about him. As soon as Katrina , Meiers, and the Dubai Port deal happened, they started in trashing him and haven't let up. AND, just as the democrats do, they get PERSONAL.
Well, I can get personal too, and MY personal response is to keep these jerks from making any more money. I have bought NO political books since the Meiers brouhaha, and don't intend to. The only political books I will buy in the future are those written by Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice, or Rove...OR their OFFICIAL and AUTHORIZED biographers. Period.
Bill was the first radio host to be embedded with our troops in Iraq.
This life changing adventure gave Bill a unique perspective of our successes and failures in the war on terror and a newfound admiration for our soldiers and their families.
I did not know this! Now I have even more respect for him.
Bill has a deep commitment in family, pride in his country and belief in the freedom of expression. His views are not left or right, republican or democrat, liberal or conservative but rather a common sense examination of what is simply right and wrong.
And oh so refreshing!!!
I cried at that part as well. I loved GWB's response--commanding him to sit down! :)
I turned Rush off when he started his liberation rant the day after the elections and I have never listened to him again. Nevertheless, reading that he called the President a "wuss" enrages me.
Rush, outside of his occasional humor, really is a small, small man by any measure that I value.
