Researchers from California Business for Education Excellence and the Pacific Research Institute have taken a look at what the state and its students are getting from more than $1 billion spent so far to help improve low-performing schools. Their conclusion: not much. The schools in the program are not doing any better than similar schools that did not participate and did not get the extra money, they say. And they say the state's accountability program is covering up that failure by using a system to assess schools that most people do not understand. ... Their report's executive summary is here.

they're doing the same thing in New Jersey public schools. Only they're updating the exteriors and enlarging the schools. Something new - is having parents PAY for after school sports uniforms and PAYING to participate. They just can't get enough of our tax dollars and then piss it away on shallow stuff.
You want to improve the schools?
Bring in Sister Mary Breakyourknuckles and let her run things.
Or make those who disrupt things work a year picking lettuce or harvesting peaches, heck, even a year as an enlisted man chippin' and painting in the Navy. Worked for me! I've never "worked" a day since.
Pork for construction unions, architects, contractors...
