Interesting about #19 on that list. So far this year, I have kept my new year's resolution about going to church. The church I've been going to is doing a series on addiction. The pastor listed some statistics about drugs, adultery, etc. in the church versus those not involved with religion and in every case the percentages were higher for the church goers.

I used to have the preconception that those in church, regular Christians, were holier than thou types, better at handling life and its temptations. And, there are Christians who seem to feel like now that they've been saved and they're going to heaven, they can do whatever they want. Like being saved means they have some sort of cosmic get out of jail free card. But mostly, now I see that church is a place for a lot of people who are suffering and are looking for help from something greater than themselves, as well as from good examples around them.
