well sure, divorce some unemployed bum and it isn't there. but divorce an employed man, a professional with a decent income - and believe me, they pay - unless they want to be fugitives the rest of their lives.
The percentage of men who pay support is MUCH higher then the number who do not.
Obviously this thread brings out those who feel support is unfair. Its common knowledge that no one gets rich off divorce. I guess it depends what side you are on. Many women never get it and a lot of them do not even bother to fight for it. Surprising how people think that whomever is taking care of the kids has the easy life.
