"I seem to have read somewhere once he was more of a Libertarian bent than his father."
I'd love to know where you found this because, as you may have gathered from my initial post, I've looked on multiple occasions without ever finding anything definitive with respect to his personal political views one way or the other.
Although, especially whenever he's back home in Canada where he remains a citizen, he never offers anything short of absolutely unqualified praise for all of his family members.
As for "I don't really care about his political leanings as long as he doesn't spout them off ..."
To me they're pertinent both because, if I'm right, they would amount to him lining his pockets under false pretenses and being yet another commie spitting at the majority of the people making him rich.
Suffice to say, while I'll gladly concede that - at least in her heyday - Barbra Streisand has an exceptional singing voice, I wouldn't willingly put a penny in her purse even if I was only aware of her private politics & she's wasn't non-stop spouting them publicly.
Bottom line as far as I'm concerned: Joe McCarthy was right.

" yet another commie spitting at the majority of the people making him rich."
Why the hatred? Kiefer doesn't write the words his character says, and certainly didn't write the screenplay. As long as he keeps his beliefs to himself, who cares?
