US Hunts 'Rogue' Agents

The US will "go after" Iranian and Syrian agents which it says are operating in Iraq. US ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad said the networks of agents were helping support the Sunni insurgency and Shi'ite death squads. Mr Khalilzad said the police would "change the behaviour" of Iran and Syria in what he said was a "defining moment" in the history of Iraq.
"We're going after their networks in Iraq," he told a news conference.
"We will target these networks in the ... expectation of changing the behaviour of these states."
The move follows the arrest in a US operation last week of five Iranians in northern Iraq.
The US said the men were Republican Guards supplying weapons to Shi'ite militants.
Iran said they were diplomats operating from an Iranian government office in Arbril and are demanding their release.
Iraq's foreign minister has also endorsed Iranian calls for their release.
Mr Khalilzad and the US commander in Iraq, General George Casey, denied there was any disagreement between Washington and Iraqi Shi'ite Prime Minister Nuri al Maliki over the detentions.
The US has accused Iran of supplying weapons to the Shi'ite militias that are destabilising Iraq.
It also accuses Syria of not doing enough to stop Sunni insurgents travelling in and out of Iraq through the Syrian border.
They should start hanging them on a pole.
The more they squeal the more you know we're doing the right thing. And as we all know, Iran has a great history of respecting International law for embassies.
Iraq needs a new foreign minister.

Khalilzad must be dreaming, LOL. Or better yet setting the stage for plausible deniability in future or ongoing US ops.....Hopefully the spirit of Colonel Rheault lives on.
Those who were helping the Sunni "insurgents" should be hanged by the Iraqi Shia.
Those who were helping the Shia "death squads" should be hanged by the Iraqi Sunni.
Then, give both sets of gallows plenty of captives to practice their technique on.

The title says 'rogue' agents. These are not rogue, they are there on orders of their governments. These are open acts of war against Iraq, the US, and all member nations of the Coalition.
That we do not burn any and all nations to the ground that give us such provocation, without notice or warning is proof in the minds of our enemy that we are too weak to be allowed to survive.

Hunt them with helicopters and run them until they can run no further.

Based on this mornings report of the gallows decapitation of Soddom's half-brother, it sounds as if they need a bit more practice.
It sounds as if they had too far a drop or too many ankle weights.
Weight-drop distance tables are out there if they can do the arithmetic.

You're right. What was I thinking? There needs to be enough left to ID the body and get the message.
I can understand why some Americans either don't think we are in a 'real' war or that the Iraq Front is 'Bush's War'. I can understand that, when the Bush Administration doesn't seem to act as if we are in a 'real' war that we MUST win.
So, now, in January 2007 we're going after the Iranian/Syrian networks in Iraq. So, what have you been doing for the past 4 years as Iran/Syria have worked to de-stabilize Iraq.
Khalizad has to know this and he has to know that losing a few people in Iraq will NOT change the behavior of the Iranian/Syrian governments. This problem started, when then Secretary of State Colin Powell toward Assad in Syria in May of 2003, just weeks after toppling Saddam, that the US was not going to invade Syria. Strategy 101: "Don't tell the enemy what you are going to do". Now, we have Tony Snow and others telling the Iranians that we are not going to attack inside Iran.
Are we at war or are we not? If Bush isn't serious about winning this World War, let's cut and run and get the heck out of Dodge. Americans aren't an imperial people and have no history or intention of conducting low-intensity wars for the purpose of "managing terrorism". The Dems should actually be very happy with how Bush is conducting the war, he's conducting the war in a PC manner right up the street of the libs. This is how the Dems would fight a war (see Viet Nam).
Iran/Syrian should be read the riot act. Stop all aggressive actions. Stop all nuclear programs. Or your regimes will be destroyed. Then destroy those regimes and destroy Iran's nuke facilities.
This will help stabilize Iraq, Lebanon, the Palestinian territories and give US policy of democratization a chance to take hold. It will wipe out the greatest supporters of terrorism. That's how a 'real' war would be fought.
Bush is sticking his finger in the eye of the Dem's with his surge, but it's not going to be enough. You can't win in Iraq when you have 'safe havens' and state support coming out of Iran/Syrian.
I say let's redeploy out of Iraq and first into Syria, then into Iran. That's what a world war would look like, but 4 years of dicking around is pissing off the American People for lack of winning. Start winning and regain your support Mr President.
