Are they going to take off the day after the Super Bowl?
To: NormsRevenge
I'd prefer they switched to a one-day work week. No person's life, liberty, or property are safe while Congress is in session.

The media will only fawn over what they SAY. What they do is irrelevent.

You beat me to it, although I would lobby for a one day a
year concept.
Heck, I'll even vote to increase their salary!

What dingy Harry and nazi Pelosi forgot to mention is that telecommuting via cellphone from sporting events, gay pride parades and other events, days out on their boat and other leisure activities would also count as part of this 5 day workweek.

Five days? Really that hard, hunh?
I worked 50 to 60 hours a week pre-retirement and no one I know worked much less. Hubby worked 80 hours a week for 15 years.
Tell me again what we pay all the clowns for anyway?
I do believe if we fired all of them and then boarded up the Capitol so none of the critters could infest it again, we might have a chance.

Shouldn't we here in Washington, where we do our business in this laboratory we call the Senate, do the same?"

Lets hope then they have Saturday morning surgeries or whatever you call it for their consitants who have issues they wished to be raised in Congress if they are going to be in Washington all week.
That is what our MPs do they work Monday - Friday in London or put it this way they are in London Monday - Friday and then hold Saturday morning surgeries back home.
Mind you my other reaction is that you can be working even if the Senate or the House is not sitting surely you can be preparing proposed Bills, gathering information, being briefed etc etc. This is IMHO as important as sitting in the Chamber.

Lies. No congresscritter works a five day workweek. And they take more days off than average folks and they get paid for it too.

You're exactly correct.
Anyone who works in an office setting knows better than to measure "work" in terms of time spent in meetings.
To: goldstategop
Actually, the present schedule allows Western congresscritters to live in their home districts and commute to D.C. for the work week. A full five day schedule would basically force them to move their families to the beltway. Frankly, I like the fact many of them spend that time away from the beltway and in their districts.
To: NormsRevenge
Considering that Congress spends 80% of its time trying to get elected, that tells me they (congress) are going to spend 100% of their time trying to get reelected.
The dems are full of it.

The less time these guys spend in session the better off we are IMO. Less time to screw us with crappy legislation.
