The Sixties generation thought everything should be free. But only a few decades later the hippies were selling water at rock festivals for $5 a bottle. But for me the price of free love was even higher.
I sacrificed what should have been the best years of my life for the black lie of free love. All the sex I ever had and I had more than my fair share far from bringing me the lasting relationship I sought, only made marriage a more distant prospect...
And I am not alone. Count me among the dissatisfied daughters of the sexual revolution, a new counterculture of women who are realising that casual sex is a con and are choosing to remain chaste instead.
I am 37, and like millions of other girls, was born into a world which encouraged young women to explore their sexuality. It was almost presented to us as a feminist act. In the 1960s the future Cosmopolitan editor Helen Gurley Brown famously asked: Can a woman have sex like a man? Yes, she answered because like a man, [a woman] is a sexual creature. Her insight launched a million 100 new sex tricks features in womens magazines. And then that sex-loving feminist icon Germaine Greer enthused that groupies are important because they demystify sex; they accept it as physical, and they arent possessive about their conquests.

I was thinking the same thing like "I wonder if they could make a Saturday Night Live" skit out of all this material?
Thank you.
Musical instruments in church = good
Clapping loudly after a performance in church = bad and tacky
Ah, but it has! Improvements in transportation, communication, and even in the way we feed ourselves has altered every aspect of human interaction. Just for fun, I grabbed a copy of the 1970's book Future Shock, and highlighted all of the predictions that were spot on, and all of those that have not come to pass, or won't. It is amazing to know how speeding up life has changed us as a species.
The burden of proof is on your side to show that those rules are merely to satisfy the needs of a pre-industrial society, and not to satisfy the deepest needs of human beings, needs that are part of their nature, not part of their technological surroundings.
I offer as proof the fact that even traditional religionists have changed the old rules when they saw fit. Forty-two years ago, people were wondering if someone who married a divorced person (Nelson Rockefeller's wife had been divorced) were fit to be President. Then, sixteen years later, Ronald Reagan's divorce wasn't an issue for even the most religious of conservatives.
In fact, the primary differences in the ten thousand flavors of Christianity are because of which things to throw out, and which ones to leave in, as I see it. Suggest to them that they merge into one faith, and you will be assaulted with doctrinal differences that are based on man-made interpretations of the same book.
That quote is excellent.
It applies to men, though, too, in the complementary sense. I fear the "memories" part for everyone, good or bad.
Personally I think electric guitars and drumsets shouldn't be in church either.
But that's just me ;)
Hey, it's a "clap offering"! ;)
****I do not believe men and women should live together outside of marriage. I think it's wrong for BOTH men AND women. I do not believe it makes anyone a "whore."****
Of course morality should be applied to both genders.
So what makes someone a whore? To do it for money is a whore, but to do it for nothing isn't?
How convoluted is that!
You are dicing morality into very thin slices.
Laura Schlesinger's remark was "unpaid whore."
If you disagree with her remark -take it up with her.
In my opinion, whether paid or not - it's immoral.
Getting "ewwwww, gross!!!!" about kissing is more for a four year old, than for a grown woman. She did that to push her lifestyle choice, which she wants validation for. Hey, if people here can assert that homosexuals march in gay pride parades to try to get validation for their sexuality, why can't I make the same claim on the born-again virgin writing her book, then giving interviews about it?
Also, you may have missed my earlier comments about now being an atheist, and having formerly entered into a restrictive religion rather than making intelligent choices about my drinking. Just another view from out there. People can choose to debate with me, or ignore me.
That would include you. ;-)
You're the 1 who had to pontificate on the woman who wrote the article.
Thank you for making my point more succinctly than I did!
Male college students do not want female college students to read this article.
Ah, for the 7-11 services?
"Artificial means of birth control are to the human reproductive system what binging-and-purging is to the human digestive system."
A recent study found that the children of women who became pregnant within 1 year of stopping the pill had a 67% greater chance of having allergies. The study wasn't conclusive and recommended a study specfically for this.
Interesting that we have a huge increase in certain diseases at the same time that the pill became popular.
I read an interesting take on *why* some people are sluts, for purely biological reasons. It is based on the idea that many people will not produce and raise optimal offspring, so sluts act to inhibit their reproduction, like sterile fruit flies.
Acting in a complementary manner to all the other biological and social reproductive processes, that work to produce the best offspring being raised by the best parents, slutty behavior is designed to 'distract' those who are not optimal breeders.
Assume you have 5 males and 5 females. Only three of each are the best breeding pairs. This leaves two couples that need to "get out of the way", as otherwise they might interfere with the breeding pairs.
Infertility isn't enough, as that could still interfere; so what is needed is someone who is willing to engage both of the other sex that shouldn't have offspring.
But it doesn't stop there. Biology dictates a window of time for optimal reproduction. Therefore, a post-menopausal woman is ideal to distract younger, undesirable males away from the better females. An older man, likewise, can distract younger, undesirable females.
This also is a possible explanation for some types of homosexuality. Biology dictates that they shouldn't reproduce.
All told, legitimate biological reasons may explain much of traditional human "bad" behavior.
Good sexuality, like good commerce, requires self interest as well as mutual interest in both parties. It's a blessing to give. It's a blessing to recieve.
I hope God gives this author a mate soon!
And I suppose eating all those McDonald's burgers when I was a kid kept me from appreciating fine cooking when I learned how to do it later on in life? My eyes are in my head to enable me to gather knowledge, but if I watch a re-run of "Gilligan's Island", I'm not detracting from that purpose, I'm just engaging in a little chewing gum for my brain.
Any part of our bodies can be used for good or evil purposes, this whole idea that "it all belongs to God", and then the appointment of human beings to decipher what all that means, is what bothers me most about religion.
Learning how to masturbate can get a woman in touch with her sexuality, which will help her husband one day. Believe me, I had to train my last wife to appreciate this aspect of her body, I wish she had done some of this on her own. But, whatever works for you.
And Spotted Dick.
