Two birds with one stone, you mean. The bonus of taking out/changing regime in Iran is that it takes care of Syria without wasting military power - after losing Saddam they now entirely depend on Iran for their energy and commisions for sponsoring Hezbollah. I believe that's why Syria has not been touched yet, it would be unnecessary diversion from the root of the problem; waste of time, money and military and more yapping and hearings from Congress about "not talking", "diplomacy", unilateralism...
