Revenge porn...I'm gonna have to remember that one...

Seriously, I think it's personally reasonable that people would be so shocked and horrified by this atrocity that they would wish all kinds of punishments on this creep, because we are better than him and know that we would never sink to his level. It's a cathartic release; it doesn't mean any of us would actually do any of this stuff.

Like dipping him in honey and having him being eaten alive by fire ants, or giving him a one-way ticket strapped to a MOAB and dropped over the desert, or blindfolding him and making him play in traffic at rush hour, or... : )

I understand your point. But the problem with being understanding about revenge porn is it systematically desensitizes people to violence and makes the unacceptable more likely. If you need any further evidence of it then you need look no further than this event. Mr. Violette exercised his revenge fantasies on his wife by killing his child and leaving the body for his wife to discover. He succumbed to his urge for revenge. The distinction between a fantasy and a reality occurs when the impulse is acted upon. The best way to resist the impulse to violence is to stop fantasizing about it.
