RALEIGH, N.C. A man suspected of decapitating his 4-year-old daughter and leaving the body for her mother to find in their suburban home was arrested in Washington, D.C., early Saturday, authorities said.
Investigators have not found any history of domestic or mental health problems at the home, and still have no leads as to a possible motive in the killing, said Clayton police Lt. Jon Gerrell.
Amber Violette told police Friday evening she had found her daughter, Katlin, with her head severed from her body, police said.
An "edged weapon" believe to have been used in the killing was found in the house, though Gerrell declined to give more details.
"This is devastating for the whole community as a whole, and it's the most horrific thing I've seen in 13 years of police work," said Sgt. S.P. Lapsley. "That a father could do this to his child, I just can't believe it."
John Patrick Violette's vehicle was found at Raleigh-Durham International Airport, and investigators learned he had taken a flight to Washington. Deputy U.S. marshals arrested the 37-year-old after police tracked his credit card to the hotel, Lapsley said.
Police said Violette, 37, would be held in Washington pending an extradition on a murder charge expected to be filed in Clayton, about 15 miles southeast of Raleigh. The U.S. Marshals Service said an extradition hearing is expected to be held Tuesday.
The mother is not a suspect in the investigation, and Lapsley said police don't expect to make any more arrests.

He needs to be kept in jail for the rest of his life and let the cellmates torture him. THEN, when he dies, the demons will take over for all of eternity...
The Marine Corps doesn't fight for entertainment value. It fights for a military and national objectives. The UFC has ZERO to do with advancing national objectives. Your linking the two is puerile.
Will there be anything else?
No?
Good.
> Here's a picture of the guy:
He looks like a demented Harry Potter!
These threads always degenerate into Revenge Porn.
Hmmm....overly emotional bordering on the distraught. By snappy I mean brief not rancorous. I hope this clarifies things for you.
But you are more amusing when you are snorty and snarky.
Well, assuming God doesn't forgive him, right?
Fighting spirit in men, not national objectives. Of course, I'm not surprised in the least that this is an unknown concept.
Revenge Porn...wow. I was looking for a phrase that describes this phenomena. Revenge porn is it...
I only wish I could take credit for coining the phrase.
But yes, the term is very appropriate.
There are plenty of home grown evil bastards here; not every one of them will be an islamofascist.
Thank you. But I wouldn't discredit Tom offhand. He's got some valid points, although his juvenile defense serves them poorly.
Sometimes it's important to remain analytical and thinking in the midst of shocking events. Why do you have a problem with that? Seems like a virtue to me.
And it seems obvious that the man involved in this act was anything but emotionless. He embraced his emotions without allowing his thinking self to keep those emotions in check. We see what the result was.
I went looking for other articles about this and one of the first results was this site, parentsbehavingbadly.com. Never heard of it before, but they do have a link back to this thread. Just found it interesting.

Let us assume the guy is guilty, confesses, is found guilty, etc.
Let us further suppose he is sentenced, and put to death in some horrid, tortorous fashion.
Some percentage of the populace would wash their hands, saying, "Not in my name."
Others would avert their eyes, appalled at what had been done, in their name.
Some would watch, feeling sick, but knowing it was necessary for survival.
Still others would watch, satisfied that justice had been done.
And some small kernel would get their rocks off.
And that kernel is why we, as a society, cannot ever allow torture, but must kill humanely, when we must kill.
I agree that he has valid points. In fact, in the end I agree that the animal should be executed after his trial without any kind of gruesome torture. He provides a good example of why personal likability often comes into play in politics, business, or any other setting. final message is ok but he takes away from the issue by being a pompous a--.
There is nothing wrong with emotion in itself. I understand what you are saying, but you need perspective. Those who post calls to take and eye for an eye from this monster aren't actually charged with performing the execution. It is totally reasonable and I would think normal to have the gut reaction to make the monster suffer.
How's this for snappy. You know it's been said that people who perceive themselves as powerless, or inept, act out by flaunting/advocating violence in a most obvious pusillanimous manner.
You three are cut from the same cloth (probably silk). I don't care for cowards anymore than I care for psychobabble.
