"Why do we do nothing agaist the Reconquista of the Southwest?
Good point.
It's later for Europe than it is for us.
Hopefully it's not too late."

At least Hispanics are Christian and share many more of our common values than Muslims. In the end, especially if we can turn around their relatively poor academic performance, they and their high birth rates could be our salvation.

While I can agree somewhat with your sentiments, I can't get past the illegal way they're going about it.

And the way our government acts like it's no big deal, going so far as to accord illegals more privileges than regular Americans.

Well, I could ask you: where are these chemical weapons? Who sold components? How many businessmen were involved? Were they punished by the German state? Have American businessmen been corrupted with regard to Iraq? Have you even bothered to read the UN report about the OFF-scandal? Sorry, but you show to me that you´re no better than Mr. Baehr.

Germany's motives were not about the oil for food bribes, for sure. They were closer to other issues he identified. Today, and you may want to check this out and see if I'm wrong, Germany is one of Iran's biggest trading partners. However, Merckel has supported no nukes for Iran regardless of trade.

....The answer should be .....

In reality it is much simpler than that. They just don't give a damn. There is no need.

Totally agree. I'm against it. All I'm doing is looking at the (very limited) bright side (at least they're Christian and not nihilistic) of a phenomenon I'm completely against.

The quote is one of the great insights in the article. An ordinary and unprincipled man might walk away from Israel. Materially, he could argue or think, we'd be better off. It's an expedient possibility if we had the wrong president. But Bush's stubborn refusal to give up on the things he believes makes him the best friend Israel and, for that matter, the Iraqis could have. In this sense, he is very much like Reagan and how he stood by freedom for the captive nations of the Soviet communists. This is a trait the Liberals call being an ideologue, which for them is only acceptable if it concerns abortion.

Sometimes you have to take the battle to the enemy . . . (as FDR did by going after Germany first after Pearl Harbor, though we had been attacked by Japan, and not Germany, a piece of history that seems to have been largely forgotten).

Huh? IINM, the first major military engagements of 1942 were all against Japan.

What am I missing here?

Hmmm, I think the author means that we pursued victory in Europe first and focused more resources and manpower there. But I could be wrong. A lot of our efforts early efforts in the Pacific in WWII, besides Midway, would not be ones we'd have wanted. For example, the fall of the Philippian Islands would be an early effort in Asia, and the fighting in the Aleutian Islands. Many people did argue then that Europe should not come first.

True enough. I was thinking more along the lines of "foreign invasion", but I phrased it wrong.

You're right.

I can only think of one religion whose main goal is to conquer the world, by force if neccessary.
