Is 3.25 enough for someone to live on? Is there a way to "live locally" so that it is possible to have a decent standard of living at that rate?

Do most Star-Kist and COTS workers make only minimum or are there opportunities to advance?

I see that minimum wages are not set by Congress, but by a board of local government and industry. Looks like it is another example of federal exemption based on local conditions.

Whatever, it the issue is important enough that Gov Togiola left Hawaii right after a kidney stone operation to lobby Washington to leave Samoa with existing agreements.

$3.25 is enough for someone to live on down here, and there are opportunities to advance.

I find it inetersting to see that not only did the Governor shoot off to Washington, the talk here is that Pelosi never really agreed to include American Samoa again, despite the "comments" regarding her backtracking. Supposedly, she just said it would be looked into.

so all is well with our exemption... /sarcasm
