Abe Lincoln also knew that if the enslaved African population of the South didn't rise to take part in democracy, any Civil War would be in vain Well, they didn't at the time. Some actually fought for the South. In fact, they were pretty much suppressed until the 1960s.

Yup, the Democrats fought their President tooth and nail back then too. But who's vision won out in the end, Abe Lincoln or Bull Connor's?
