Conflicting magnitude though.
Reports of 7.7
or 8.4.

What did your cell ping say, my e mail ping said 7.4 but the 911 advisory (our local county 911) said 8.4

Hmmm and nothing on the NOAA radio.

I still only see 7.7 magnitude on USGS quake website.

I wonder if the 8.4/8.3 reports are wrong. That is a huge difference. 7.7 is barely enough to make a tsunami, 8.4 would make a big one

Mine came through as 7.7 on the cell for the second ping. First ping was raw data as 'greater than 7.5' - which means the system just doesn't know yet and is sitting there flickering an alarm for a seismologist to take a gander at the recordings.
