Why even bring it up and say it is a bombshell and dark secret if they were not trying to put into peoples minds that Shawn may have possibly been his fathers victim.
It has nothing to do with Shawn's kidnapping, flat out nothing - it is not a bombshell. His father was dead 2 years before Shawn was even kidnapped.
I am not trying to argue with you personally - there is just no logic in why they did this unless it was to put the thought into the viewer's mind that Shawn may have been his father's victim. Trust me there are people out there that will run with this and say, "Well maybe Shawn wanted to be with Devlin because Devlin was "really" like Shawn's real father and that Shawn wanted the sex that Devlin was offering to him."
Trust me there are people out there that are only going to see Shawn as a pervert (and not a victim or child) and that due to what has happened to him he will himself become a child predator and he will be a threat to society. All because these people think he stayed with Devlin because he liked what Devlin was doing to him.
I think the interest in this case is so high that they are throwing out any little tidbit they can dig up. But the reporter saying that the original arrest was for rape and then the charge was changed to attempted sodomy leads me to believe it's more likely the victim was a girl. But I'm not an expert on how the various terms are usually used in criminal court.
One more thing...
These morons that think Shawn wanted to be with Devlin will also take the Fox/NY Post report as:
Well look Shawn's real father was a pervert, so Shawn was bound to be one also and that is why he stayed with Devlin. Because he liked it.
There are many small minded people on this earth and there are a few on FR that have clearly blamed this child. They don't care that he is a child and they don't see Shawn as a victim.
What FOX did was uncalled for. All they did was hurt Shawn more even if Shawn was not his father's victim. Do you think that Shawn wanted the public to know about his father?
It just adds more to what this child is dealing with and he is under the microscope now and none of it is his fault but you have kid that is probably beating himself up inside because he didn't try hard enough (in his mind) to get help while his captor had him.
I am not venting on you and I am just venting because I am so pissed off at how the media does not think about what they are doing or saying. This is a child and he is an abused child (at the hands of his captor). Shame on them - when are they going to draw the line?
Sorry for venting but I am really frustrated about how everything has been going down in the media when it comes to this case.
